Australia - Western Australia February 2012

Well we have finally arrived in Australia, Western Australia...Mizza and Rhys were waiting for usat the airport to take us back to their place to meet the pets... ARGHHHHHHH I forgot to say in ourBali Blog they keep snakes as pets, YES SNAKES, Andrea's phobia... Oh and they have 2 lovely dogs...Friday night was feed night with the snakes, we both fed them dead mice, although Andrea was shaking a little she still managed to do this...

By the end of the week we were both holding snakes, Roxy and Levi, ahh they are so nice....

Mizza drove us down to Margaret River Region, her mum and partner live there in the bush. Had great night with lots of beers and wine, fantastic food and great company....

The next day we were on Jerry's tours.  He knows all there is to know about the region and took us to places that we would never had seen if we were doing this by ourselves.  How nice is he and treated us to some great fish (shark) and chips.  We saw Manta Rays coming up close and personal on one of the beaches people in the sea were feeding them and touching them.. Visited a few Vineyards, eating the grapes off the vines he he!!!!

Rhys lent us his Bunky (old 4x4) to get us about, which was great.   So we headed off into Fremantle (Freo) for the day...

Next day we hit Perth city, very calm and quiet city, cannot really believe this is a city.... Had a good look around here, went to  the WACA cricket ground, and Kings Park for a view over the city, Brill...  Later that night we returned to Kings Park for night views of the city and a picnic in the park with Mizza & Rhys...

While we had the Bunky, we made the most of it and visited beaches north of Perth, i.e. Scarborough Beach and Brighton Beach.. Do you recognize these names??? ha ha!!!  Was looking for the Donkey rides.....

Bali & Gili Islands January & February 2012

Now back to some beach time as we head in Bali from Java via ferry into Gilimanuk, and had a night there as no local buses were running at that time...Next day we managed to get a local mini van (Bemo) to Lovina our 1st beach town in Bali.

We hired a moped for the day and headed up into the mountains to visit the Git Git Waterfall, Twin lakes, Buyan Lake and Tamingan Lake.  WOW what great views high up here, only down side was the weather took a turn for the worst and we got soaked on the moped going up those windy roads with low clouds, fog, rain etc, was scary.....

Now we are heading to see a friend from Retford who now lives here in a village called Batu Belige, near Kerobokan and Kuta.  Wow what a nice villa she has here we have definitely been spoilt here with a 4 poster bed and our own big bathroom, so different from our normal rooms he he!!!!

Hired a moped again and headed into Kuta and Simenyak for a spot of shopping, and also booked our fast ferry over to the Gili Islands.

Oh yes we are off to the Gili Islands for a few days relaxing, snorkeling etc, oh and for Andrea,s Birthday.....Gili Islands re-visited for Steve.  Started off on Gili Trawangan the largest Island of the 3 Islands.  Very nice place, little more busier than it was 12 years ago, but still nice...

After a couple of days we headed over to Gili Air, smaller Island, not quite as busy and developed as Gili Trawangan, more remote feel about the place... This is where we are spending Andrea's Birthday.  We found a lovely traditional Balinese Pod to live in with fantastic sea views and nice relaxing atmosphere...

Happy 40th Birthday Andrea........What a great day spent snorkeling and swimming with the turtles, few beers and pizza, get in!!!!!  At the end of the night met a nice couple Mizza & Ryhs from Perth, Australia who offered us to come and stay with them when we arrive next week.  What a nice thing to do...
