We crossed the border at
Huay Xai, Laos. Then took the slow boat along the
Mekong River which took 2days, staying 1 night in
Pak Beng, half way to
Luang Prabang. Journey was great taking in wicked views and seeing lots of local villages, locals getting on and off the boat, children waving and playing in the river......

Arrived in Luang Prabang great little town, relaxing and calm, nice friendly people...Full of backpackers, we kept seeing fellow travellers from the boat everywhere we went. Decent bars, lots of drinks to be had, nice food, also you could get good local food at the food market for only a $1 for a plate full.

After partying in Vang Vieng we move on to the
Capital of Laos, Vientiane, along route 13 again, OH NO!!! When we got to Vientiane there was one big street party/festival going off for the locals to celebrate end of Buddhist Lent and the end of the rainy season..Was great to see but very very busy and too much when caught up in the middle of it all.
